I finally made a Christmas layout

So I finally made a Christmas layout. I usually have at least one done by the end of the year but as I still was trying to get my puppy on a schedule I didn’t have time.

The Fifteen Minute Layout

I had about fifteen minutes before my puppy usually wakes up so I wanted to try and see if I could get a layout done in that time.

I picked a sketch from Creating With Sketches Vol 1 by Creative Scrappers, quickly choose three pictures from the first page that opened up when I opened Lightroom, I choose the kit the opened when Picasa opened which turned out to be the original Amy Tangerine kit, I opened a new blank document in Photoshop and this is the result.

All completed in 14:54:98 according to the timer on my iPhone.

Things I Learnt Getting A New Computer…

• Software should be transferrable – I had lots of software on my computer that I downloaded for no longer have the disc for but now I’m never going to get back unless I pay for it again like ACDSee I had months worth of work tagging all my scrapbooking supplies now I’m having to do it again in Picasa as you can’t seem to buy ACDsee for less than £60.
• You can transfer your iTunes library –  and keep all your settings and playlists. You just have to search open that library on the new computer and then if your files are in a different file structure help it locate one file and then it will look for the rest. (I had to do this several times as my music was previously kept on two harddrives)
• Backing up my computer weekly means I still have all my photos – I’ve had to download my photos from my external hard drive several times as I keep deleting managing to delete the keywords I’ve managed to delete all my family keep words and the second time all my places – Then I’ve had reload them into Lightroom (retagging wasn’t an option as I have almost 90,000 pictures).
• I’m not paying for Office every month  - I don’t use office products that much so I opted to buy the suite outright for when I use it.
• I miss scrapbooking  - I’ve had my computer for almost a week now and I’m still not at a point when I think I can make a scrapbook page (other than my weekly project life pages).
• Windows 8 computers don’t play DVDs  - unless you download some other software.
• Windows 8 isn’t that bad
• PC World is useless – I went into the shop and after waiting 20 minutes for help they had none of the computers in stock but they could order it in. I went home and ordered it online – it was cheaper – but I had a query so I emailed them on the 9th – I’m still waiting for a response.

Dog haircut

My sisters dog got a hair cut today I always think he looks stupid but he needed a cut as he was looking like a Ewok. Here is the before and after 

Waiting on a new computer...

My computer is screwed and I definitely can't scrapbook - I've been wanting to scrapbook my Christmas pictures since the weekend - I have to get a new one. 

So I went to PC World yesterday after waiting for twenty minutes for someone to help us every computer I liked was only available to order in which they could get by Thursday I told them to forget it and came home and ordered the same model I wanted online for £80 less than it was in the shop which was enough to order Microsoft Office and it will get delivered to my house on Thursday so no trip back to PC World.

So being computerless until tomorrow I babysat my niece and nephew tonight. We played Jenga did puzzles and my niece gave herself a pedicure.

Can't wait to get my computer back.

Week 1

Feeling frustrated

So I went to Maplin and got the parts to fix my computer. It's easy to do the guy told - 90 minutes it took to get the part fitted and the computer willing to boot. It's taken me 40 minutes to get my wifi mouse to work and now I'm stuck trying to get my computer to recognise the fact that the Internet does exist. Some times I hate computers

One of those days

Today was going pretty well until this afternoon when the cpu cooler on my computer broke so now my computer will only stay on for five minutes before it over heats and I get the blue screen of death.

Then my dinner which was in the halogen oven cremated. I think I'll just take the dog for a walk and get an early night 

Yankee Candle

So I went shopping this morning and bought my first Yankee Candle which is actually for me with the money my brother gave me for Christmas. I’ve bought them before for friends and family for presents but this is the first one for me. I got the pretty glass holder and three candles – 2x Baby Powder and Black Plum Blossom. The Baby Powder smell is gorgeous.

So I got a puppy….

So one week I was talking to my Mum about how I would like to get a Beagle and two weeks later I had one and my life is not my own anymore.

We only went to look at the puppies but £300 later Bailey was coming home.

She is now 13 weeks old. She’s pretty good about going to bed at around 8 and sleeping through the night. She loves her ducky toy, and her pirate chicken to alert me that she’s awake in the morning. Since Christmas day she is now allowed to go on walks so goes on short walks 3 times a day. She loves her Wainwrights pet food. She can bark and howl. We’re still working on sit and down and potty training.  But she is very cute.

So I only read 18 books in December but since I reached my goal in November that is ok. So my total for the year was 383.

 

Since a few things have changed and I don’t get quite so much time to read my goal for 2015 is  currently 250 (but that will probably change)
