Football alternative.

So yesterday apart from being a bank holiday in the UK was also the final of the football season Swansea vs Reading. While half of Swansea shipped out to watch the game in London, the other half gather around tv screens to watch them win 4-2.

However I’m not that interested in football unless England are playing, we decided we wanted to do something else with the kids so we went bowling. There were a few mishaps like being sent to the wrong lane and then having to go back twice to get them to switch the monitor to the game rather than football.

Here are so pictures….

March of the Penguins.

I like looking in the gallery at Two Peas In A Bucket, and when I saw the layout that Shimelle Lane had made for the May 4x6 Photo Love sketch, I decided I would give it a go. This uses the Easy Life kit from Weeds & Wildflowers.

So I recently bought a tripod since my sister’s best friend asked me to take the pictures at her wedding. It arrived last weekend so I thought I should break it out so I took some pictures of my Grandad. So I made a layout using this weeks Bonus Sketch at Sketch Support and an Echo Park digital kit.

My grandfather’s nephew (which I’m guessing is my second cousin) leant me a book on the history of my grandfather’s mother’s side of the family.  It’s really interesting reading and I’m adding relatives to my www.ancestery.co.uk family tree.  I’m learning a lot.

I have a cold, I have a pound headache, I ache everywhere and I woke up sneezing at 2am.  I think I’m going back to bed.

Thought of the day.

" When all else fails, read the directions. "

Why is that people never read the directions? Or just read things in general.  Some days I get frustrated at work because people just don’t enter data correctly, even thought it is correct on the paperwork, and then four other people deal with it and still no-one notices it’s wrong.

Anyway I think I’ll just watch Mythbusters and see if I learn anything useful. Today I learnt that if you sneeze your eyeballs won’t fall out, that driving backwards on ice is more dangerous that driving forward and yodelling cannot set of an Avalanche. All very useful.

A Thousand Hundred Million Cookies

A few days ago while shopping I found some premade shortbread cookie dough that came with star cutters and smarties. I bought two lots one for each of my niece and nephew.  This morning my sister was feeling ill so I was watching them. We had fun rolling out the dough and cutting out the cookies and decorating.  After ten minutes cooking and fifteen minutes cooling they were handing out the cookies.

But the best part was while we were making them. At first my nephew wanted to make a hundred (a little ambitious) then after a few minutes he announced he wanted to make a thousand hundred million. When asked why he announced that he wanted to make one for everyone in the whole world and then go and deliver them.  It was so sweet  just had to make a layout.

Things I learnt from Mythbusters….

about starting a fire without matches….

1. Rubbing two sticks together is a lot harder than it looks

2. Setting gunpowder on fire with a bullet  is also harder than it looks.

3. You can start a fire with wire wool and a battery (but who carries wire wool with them when their camping?)

4.  You can start a fire with ice (but you need to have a freezer and plenty of time to spend turning it into the sphere).

So in conclusion  what I have learnt about starting a fire without matches -  REMEMBER A LIGHTER!

To Banner or not to banner.

So I have been busy going through all the 30000 pictures on my computer (i’m still working through them) in preparation for the Photo Freedom class that starts in a few weeks. So this is the only scrapbook page I’ve made in a few days. It uses this weeks Sketch Support sketch.

I know that the bunting/banner has been popular on scrapbook pages for quite a while now but I’m still not sure I like it. I mean it looks cute and I tried doing this layout without out but it does add something. But I’m still not sure. So I don’t think you’ll see it on many layouts from me in future.

Thursday, 12 May 2011

We were woken up at 5am this morning to the news that someone had set fire to my sisters garage.  We had the fire brigade and the police out.  Luckily most of it was just junk and the insurance company is paying out but who sets fire to someone’s garage in the middle of the night.  To make it even worse they let my  2 year old niece’s pet rabbit out which has now vanished.

This is a layout of my grandparents, I don’t know when the picture was taken but I thought it went nicely with the Allison Davies sketch using Echo Park Summer Days kit.

The Stig…

So I was watching an old episode of Top Gear in which Rubens Barichello beat the Stig on the lap. I remember seeing the pictures of his t-shirt. Being that everything on the internet is forever I even found pictures.

I also love that Jensen Button had this t-shirt.

Happy Wednesday.

Since it was Bank Holiday in the UK and I didn’t have to work we decided to take my niece and nephew bowling today. I won and even Aidan and Ashley beat their mum.

Ashley was our cheerleader.

So four busy days to scrapbook.  I did however get the Echo Park Summer Days digikit from www.jessicasprague.com today which I’ve been waiting for. Now I’m waiting for Splash.
