It’s Friday…

and it’s been a long week. I’m glad it’s over.

Nothing scrappy to report so I’m going to curl up and watch National Treasure.

Inspiration

Inspiration is a funny thing. I like to write Fan fiction so I get inspired by little things around me and by the characters themselves. My current works in progress revolve around Glee and Grey’s Anatomy, sometimes I spent all day playing conversation the characters would have with each other in my head.

Now when it comes to scrapbook I tend to pick a sketch I like, create it using my digi supplies and then picking photos that will go and then finish the layout off. This sort of follows the Club Scrap ASLB process. I used to be a member of their digital kit club which used to supply kits which were very similar to their paper kit so you could follow the ASLB instructions and create great looking layouts quickly. However when they switch to making the digi kits different I stop my membership.

But that being said I liked the idea of having the ASLB layouts ready but have rarely used them.  Here are a few old layouts using Club Scrap ASLB layouts.

This last one isn’t made with the ASLB layouts but is using Club Scrap supplies but’s one of my favourite as it shows my grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and my aunt.

Weight loss update….

DSCF3537

For the past two weeks I have been using the Biggest Loser Wii game to keep and I’ve lost 4lbs…. yeah me!

I’ve also placed an order for the new Biggest Loser challenges game which you use a gym ball and stretchy bands with.

So this morning I went to Tesco to buy a Gym ball it was marked as being reduced to £8 from £12 but when I paid for it at the till it cost me £3.33. BARGIN!

Now I’ve just spent the last 45 minutes working out and I’m going to hit the shower and the finish watching White Collar.

Sometimes the photos aren’t what the story is about…

When I was a kid my grandmother had a chicken shaped cookie jar that sat on the dresser in the kitchen (well she still has it) but inside was a collection of things she wanted to keep including some of the toys out of Christmas crackers. One of them was a little yellow frog, the only pictures I had of the frog were of my nephew playing with this frog but the story got told….

Older photos…

Is it just me or does anyone else have an issue with scrapbooking older family photos for fear of getting wrong? I mean I have no problem scrapbooking the thousands of pictures I have of my niece and nephew but scrapbooking pictures from my childhood or heritage photographs and I just can’t bring myself to do it.

I think it all boils down to a fear of getting it wrong.  I mean I only have a few pictures from back then as my mum couldn’t afford to have them developed, I lost a load of my secondary school pictures after a computer crash when I was  a teenager.

I know it’s irrational as I’m a digital scrapbooker I have all this photos stored digitally if I don’t like the page I’m making I can discard it and start over but I still can’t bring myself to do it.

Note to self….

Just went to see Season of the Witch – Note to self do not go and watch films with killer wolfs, demons and monks at this time of night.

Where is a nice Disney film when I need it?

Challenge Yourself

Today’s prompt was to do a challenge – I decided to challenge myself to create a layout based on this weeks Allison Davis sketch (www.sketchsupport.com) which has a completly different theme to the one I created earlier in the week.

Here is my original layout.

and here is my new layout

Colin Jackson.

Todays prompt was to post a picture from years ago and write something inspired by that.

colin jackson<----- That’s me on the right with the ponytail.

On a warm Friday, we all gathered around on the school playground waiting as a black limousine pulled up with Colin Jackson inside who had come to meet us as part of our prize. Our teacher Miss Templar was very big on saving the environment, so we got involved in collecting milk bottle tops for the Save the Children appeal. We were a small school but we managed to save over 180,600 milk bottle tops.  It helped that we lived in a small village where we managed to get the neighbours to save their milk bottle tops and that fact the father of one of the students was a milkman who asked everyone on the round to save their milk bottle tops for us. We ended up with the equivalent of 6000 milk bottle tops for every student, which meant we came top in the country in a campaign that raised over £106,000.
Our prize was meeting Colin Jackson and having a training session and picnic.  Great job!  Circa 1990.

Here is my layout of this day.

ACDSee.

I organise all my scrapbooking supplies with ACDSee. Since I had to buy a new computer last year I’ve had to create a new database so I only have the supplies I use categorised at the moment that seems to be all of my pdf sketches, all my supplies from Weeds and Wildflowers Design and all my kits from Scrapgirls.

The only supply I tag with a colour is paper which is broken down further to include certain types such as solids or patterns. Everything else has a category to make it easy to find. They are labelled with the designer and kit to make it easy to find. The only thing I have left to finish tagging of these supplies is the wordart. But since I rarely use it is isn’t a priority.

So I’ve had a fillings in the past well more than a few I’m usually at the dentist for half an hour max, today 1 hour.  I don’t know why but she kept drilling and drilling.  Ouch!
