I thought I’d share with you some of my recent layouts. They have all been completed using sketches from various sources. The idea of a sketch is a little map of where to put your pictures and elements you can either stick to it religiously or you can adapt it make it your own. Sketches can be turned to create a whole new look.
Some good sources of sketches are Becky Higgins (the queen of sketches) over at www.creatingkeepsakes.com or from Page Maps www.pagesmaps.com .
This pages is based on a sketch from the final issue of Simple Scrapbooks and uses the Weeds & Wildflowers Kit Life is Good.
This layout uses this months sketch from the Celebrate the Seasons class over at www.twopeasinabucket.com it is made with various kits from Club Scrap, Weeds & Wildflowers and Scrapgirls.
This layout is from a sketch from www.pagemaps.com from their sketches for Basic Grey. It uses the Jake & Emma kit from www.scrapgirls.com
On a similar vein Club Scrap has a system called ASLB when you create the layout first then add pictures using carefully planned cutting instructions which are free to members with every monthly kit. But even if the design you want to use is made with one kit you can easily substitute the elements from a totally different kit.
This layout uses an ALSB formula and the Life is Good kit from Weeds and Wildflowers (a totally different look from Coco which uses the same kit)
So sketches – you’ve got to love something that helps save the time and guess working of a layout so more memories can get scrapped.
